Richard Carthorne gave his life to Christ at an early age, and has served in many capacities in the body of Christ (the church). For instance: Sunday Church School teacher, trustee, deacon, and then finally answering the call to preach the gospel. On September 15, 1975, Rev. Richard Carthorne was licensed by the Anna Johenning Baptist Church and ordained on August 30, 1979. He served as interim pastor of Anna Johenning Baptist Church for two years. He served with the Good News Mission prison ministry as Chaplain for many years and on Thursday nights taught bible study in the Upper Marlboro jail as well as in other capacities such as serving on the president’s council (an advisory to the Chaplain of the prison). From 1982 to present, he is serving as Chaplain at the Greater Southeast Hospital. There he brings a Sunday morning worship service. Theological Training: Graduate of the Washington Baptist Seminary, National Bible College, and the National Baptism.
